The Story of Fall Without Jerry

Fall Without Jerry was written between 1998-2002 in Setauket, New York and Marietta, Georgia, mostly during the midnight to early morning hours between changing diapers and rolling bones. Like so many Deadheads I was somewhat steamrolled when I heard about Jerry’s untimely death back on August 9, 1995 and was truly bummed that there would be no more Grateful Dead shows to attend. While Fall Without Jerry is fiction and Matthew Baron, the main character is a fictional character, the story incorporates many true/somewhat true yarns drawn from my life experiences. Fact is that just like Matt I first heard of Jerry’s death from Paul “Homefries” Glaser, in his Eastport Luncheonette and I did attend the Allman Brothers concert that night at Jones Beach under that pink eerie sky. Now 20 years later I still miss Jerry. What about you?
